The proud Louth Academy Year 7 Boys Team who beat KEVIGS to win the Wolds Area League.
The Louth Academy Year 7 Boys Football Team is through to the Coastal and Wolds Final after winning the Wolds Area League.
The team won the final game of their league against arguably one of the strongest teams around in KEVIGS. Going into the game knowing a draw would make them champions gave them a little bit of confidence early on, but this team would never have been happy with a draw.
However, it was KEVIGS who started the brighter team, looking the more threatening, stringing together some nice passes along the back and in midfield.
But, once LA settled their nerves, KEVIGS found themselves penned in to their own half. A more direct attacking style of play showed a different approach from LA, with Jack McSpadden turning into Jonny Wilkinson from five yards out, to shots being driven across goal from Jay Keefe, it was looking promising.
Then, after 20 minutes. the deadly duo of Cameron Stratford and Henry Brown combined with a tidy through ball by Cam and a true striker's finish from Henry. Louth Academy 1-0.
Following a fast start to the second half, with the wind assisting, Henry found himself through again. This time producing a piece of class with a chip over the keeper. Louth Academy 2-0.
LA's third came from Jay Keefe after a battle for the ball six yards out, a goal well deserved from maybe his best performance of the season. It was 3-0 to Louth Academy.
Game over... or not! Two quick fire goals from KEVIGS added some wrinkles and grey hairs to the staff, and made for a nervous finish to the game, but LA showed their mettle and kept it to 3-2.
There were great scenes at the end, showing exactly how much this meant to the team, and rewarding them for all their hard work.
