Students present Christmas Showcase

Parents and Carers wowed as students of Louth Academy dazzle in Christmas Showcase.

Louth Academy Voices

Louth Academy students showcased their incredible talents in a Christmas Show at the Louth Academy Upper Campus in their dedicated Lecture Theatre.

The evening started with a wonderful performance of ‘Carol of the Bells’ from Louth Academy Voices. The choir worked together in two parts to provide harmonies and a great start to the show.

Year 10’s Lucy Bryson and Imogen Webster introduced the show as a comedy duo, Buddy and Jingles the Elves. They performed a rap and prepped the audience for the performances to come.

Georgia Dilks (Year 11) then sang a solo of ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ from Les Miserables, followed by Louth Academy Performing Arts Club with their dramatic reading of ‘Twas the Night before Christmas’.

This group is made of students from Year 7 and 8 who attend Performing Arts Club as an extra-curricular activity on Monday evenings.

Cadence Sellars then sang her first song of the night. The Year 7 student sang ‘Say Something’ as a solo, accompanied by the piano.

This was followed by Year 8, Halle Durrant-Jones singing ‘Heart of Stone’ from SIX The Musical. Halle is a talented performer and takes part in local productions at Louth Riverhead Theatre, as well as gaining a place in the Youth Choir for Britain.

The final performance of the first act was BTEC Music students performing ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ along with staff from the Music Department. They sang and played musical instruments as part of their working toward their final assessments.

During the interval, visitors were treated to refreshments and homemade mince pies, baked by the Food Technology students.

The second half of the night was opened by Sophie Lee (Year 11) with a vocal solo of ‘Man in the Mirror’ by Michael Jackson, before Year 9 student, Isla Brown performed a piano arrangement of ‘Titanium’. Isla plays lots of musical instruments and taught herself to play the piano by ear and using videos from YouTube.

Ella Samuell (Year 9) was up next with a vocal performance of ‘Power of Love’, accompanied by the piano.

Cadence Sellars performed her final vocal solo of the night with ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ from Mariah Carey.

The final performances certainly got the audience in the festive mood, with lots of parents, friends and loved ones joining in with singing, clapping and dancing. Encouragement from the audience and students resulted in a repeat of Cadence’s Mariah Carey hit.
