Quantum Theatre Wows With Open Air Performance Of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’

As it was meant to be - Quantum Theatre actors perform ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ to Louth Academy students outside on the school field.

Louth Academy was proud to organise a performance of Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ by nationally-renowned theatre company Quantum Theatre for Year 8 students.

Due to the beautiful weather, students were able to enjoy an authentic Shakespearean experience with a  performance outside on the Academy field. The two-hour performance was filled with puns, drama and comedy, as the cast did an outstanding job of bringing the characters of Hermia, Lysander, Demetrius, Helena and bumbling Bottom to life.

Students particularly enjoyed the magical elements of the play and the careful stagecraft that created the enchanted forest.

In Year 7 and Year 8, students study a range of contextual information and excerpts from some of Shakespeare’s most famous plays. For some students, this will be the first time they have seen Shakespeare live and we are sure this was a performance to remember! The engagement and involvement of all the Year 8 students should be commended; they were a fantastic audience demonstrating patience, respect and maturity.

We hope to have the Quantum Theatre Company back at Louth Academy soon, next time with a performance of Macbeth for our Key Stage 4 students!
